Interesting test made in  Dörentrup, Germany : the citizens can turn on the light of the street they want for 15 minutes.This is possible thru a system,called Dial4light, digiting a code with their mobile . More info on www.comunivirtuosi.org.

Being green

I am constantly trying hard to be as green as possible thruout my life, mainly because I believe in a holistic world, in which everything and everyone should find the right balance inside himself , among the others ( human beings and animals) and towards nature. I am always amazed whenever I find examples of everyday objects, which have been made by recycling or, as in this case,by using natural elements without destroying Mother Nature.

Sto davvero cercando di essere il più ecosostenibile possibile durante tutto l'arco delle mie intense giornate in quanto credo fermamente in una visione olistica della vita, durante la quale ogni cosa ed ogni persona trovino il giusto equilibrio dentro sé stessi, con gli altri ( esseri umani e animali) e nei confronti dell'ambiente. Sono sempre affascinata dagli esempi di oggetti di uso quotidiano fatti con materiali riciclati o, come in questo caso, usando componenti che Madre Natura fornisce senza doverla distruggere.

(DE)LIGHT

A couple of days back, doctor asked me :" what's your job?" I replied I have been busy with lighting for the last twenty years and she commented back : " Oh, How interesting! You bring LIGHT to the darker sides of people !" Well,... I have not fully discovered  the real meaning of my life yet,but..yes, that would be one of my aims ! So, when I received this wonderful "light art" image from my dear friend Daniela, I immediately thought to link  together the two things : my main aim then will be bringing (DE)LIGHT ! ;)

Un paio di giorni fa, la mia dottoressa mi chiese che tipo di lavoro svolgessi e Le risposi che da più di vent'anni mi occupo di luce. Lei rispose : " Molto interessante ! Allora fai LUCE negli angoli bui delle persone !" Beh, non che abbia ben chiaro ancora il significato vero della mia vita, però,..sì...non mi dispiacerebbe leggere il mio lavoro anche in questi termini. Così, quando la mia amica Daniela mi ha spedito questa magnifica immagine di "light art" ho pensato di unire le due cose : quindi il mio obiettivo prioritario sarà di portare un po' di (DE)LIGHT, di, diciamo così..,"piacere luminoso". ;)

Roll & Hill : focus on american industrial craftmanship

This chandelier, designed by Paul Loebach, produced by Roll & Hill reminds me of an upside down crinoline, a rigid skirt-shaped structure of steel designed in France by 1850 to support the skirts of a woman's dress into the required shape. Roll & Hill main aim is bringing the focus back to American industrial craftmanship.

From what had the young designer been inspired?

Questo lampadario disegnato da Paul Loebach e prodotto da Roll & Hill mi ricorda una crinolina al contrario, una sottogonna rigida di metallo disegnata in Francia nel 1850 ca per dare la forma desiderata agli abiti femminili. L'obiettivo principale di Roll & Hill è quello di riportare l'attenzione  sulla manifattura industriale americana.
