Condivido volentieri queste magnifiche installazioni luminose. Il lavoro sperimentale di Chris Fraser,giovane fotografo di San Francisco, è iniziato come approfondimento della possibilità di rendere la fotografia interattiva.
Trovo queste foto molto poetiche : con l'uso intelligente e professionale di una macchina fotografica insieme ad una diversa visione della luce, è riuscito nel suo intento!

My Muse

My Muse is a magazine about fashion dolls and their little world. Pamela De Lorenzi is one of the founders and I wanted to interview her because of our common passion for dolls and her great talent for photography. A good picture depends a lot on the use of light and this is the aspect I am most interested in. With her degree in Fashion Design and a professional experience with the photographic studio co-operating with Mattel, Pamela could achieve great results, which can be seen in her magazine My Muse. Here’s an extract of my interview to her :

       1.How do you enlighten a doll in order to give her a human aspect?

Well, a doll is enlightened like any other object. The touch of the photographer is then essential for making her human.

2.In My Muse last December 2011 issue, in the photo album dedicated to VINTAGE, you have been able to create perfectly that typical atmosphere of the late ‘50s…why did you chose that particular soft pink colour?

 I tried to give a natural effect and let the light coming in from outside in order to create that typical vintage atmosphere, perfect for the furniture set and the dolls I had available. I have not made any color correction in the pictures; the pink atmosphere is given by the light bounces on the various pieces of the set.

3. How much important is the light in yr shots?

 I should say it is very important together with an excellent semi professional camera. Also the compact cameras can be good enough. But they are almost fully automatic and they allow less experiments.

MyMuse è una rivista sulle fashion dolls ed il loro piccolo mondo. Pamela DeLorenzi è una delle fondatrici ed io ho voluto intervistarla per la nostra passione comune per le bambole ed il suo grande talento come fotografa. Una bella foto dipende molto dall’utilizzo della luce e questo è uno degli aspetti che anche mi interessa. Laureata in Fashion Design e grazie  all’esperienza lavorativa con lo studio fotografico che collabora con Mattel, Pamela è riuscita ad ottenere ottimi risultati,alcuni dei quali visibili nella sua rivista My Muse. Ecco un estratto della mia intervista a Pamela :

1.     Come si illumina una bambola? Come la si rende “umana”?

 Una bambola s’illumina come qualsiasi altro oggetto. E’ la sensibilità di chi la fotografa che può renderla umana.

2.Nell’ultimo My Muse del dicembre 2011, nel photo album dedicato al vintage, sei riuscita a ricreare proprio un’atmosfera fine anni ’50…cosa ti ha spinto a “sfumare” con quella luce particolare ?

  Ho cercato di dare un effetto di luce naturale che entrasse dall’esterno e che ricreasse quell’atmosfera vintage perfettamente in tono con il set e le bambole che avevo a disposizione.  Non ho effettuato alcuna “color correction” sulle immagini, l'atmosfera rosata è data proprio dai rimbalzi di luce sui vari materiali che componevano il set.

3.     Quanto è importante il ruolo della luce nelle tue foto?

Direi parecchio insieme ad una macchina fotografica semi professionale. Anche con le compatte è possibile ottenere ottime foto, ma essendo quasi completamente automatiche, non si ha la possibilità di sperimentare.

Daniel Canogar at MIA Milan Image Art Fair 12/15 May 2011

During my visit at MIA, the very first Milan Image Art Fair fully dedicated to photography I was particularly impressed by Daniel Canogar sculptural installations' shots. These are constructed with discarded electronic materials : colored cables,thousands of burnt-out bulbs, meters of videotape etc.Light animations projected onto the installations appear to free the energy stored in the electric waste,awakening in it memories of its past.

Durante la mia visita alla MIA, la primissima fiera a Milano  dedicata alla fotografia considerata come arte, sono stata particolarmente impressionata dalle foto delle installazioni scultoree di Daniel Canogar. Queste sono composte da materiali elettronici di scarto : cavi colorati, migliaia di lampadine bruciate,nastri di cassette etc. Animazioni di luci proiettate sulle installazioni sembrano liberare l'energia contenuta nei rifiuti elettrici, suscitando in essi memorie del loro passato.
