Carmencita : personalize your own table lamp!

It's crazy sometimes the way life helps you keep on track..Last friday I was strolling around Mi Japan 2011, a very interesting event about Japan and its Tradition, its Food and Lifestyle, held in Milano for supporting Japan itself. Apparently nothing to do with lighting! Then, I unexpectedly bumped into a small stand, showing a very simple but brilliant table lamp : CARMENCITA. Despite of its name, it has been designed by the japanese designer, HiKaru Mori and produced by NEMO.It's a cone of matt blown glass and you can "dress" it with colourful and multiform shades, even upside down, so that the lamp results to be fully personalized.

E' incredibile il modo in cui a volte la vita ti aiuta a mantenere la rotta. Venerdì scorso stavo gironzolando per Mi Japan 2011, un evento molto interessante sul Giappone, la sua tradizione,il suo cibo e stile di vita, tenutosi a Milano proprio a sostegno del Giappone. Apparentemente nulla a che vedere con la luce! Poi, inaspettatamente  mi sono imbattuta in un piccolo stand, nel quale c'era una lampada da tavolo molto semplice ma geniale : CARMENCITA. Nonostante il nome, é stata disegnata dal designer giapponese Hikaru Mori e prodotta da NEMO. E' un cono in vetro soffiato opaco e lo si può "vestire" con paralumi di diversi colori e forme, anche a testa in giù, così da creare la propria lampada personalizzata.

Daniel Canogar at MIA Milan Image Art Fair 12/15 May 2011

During my visit at MIA, the very first Milan Image Art Fair fully dedicated to photography I was particularly impressed by Daniel Canogar sculptural installations' shots. These are constructed with discarded electronic materials : colored cables,thousands of burnt-out bulbs, meters of videotape etc.Light animations projected onto the installations appear to free the energy stored in the electric waste,awakening in it memories of its past.

Durante la mia visita alla MIA, la primissima fiera a Milano  dedicata alla fotografia considerata come arte, sono stata particolarmente impressionata dalle foto delle installazioni scultoree di Daniel Canogar. Queste sono composte da materiali elettronici di scarto : cavi colorati, migliaia di lampadine bruciate,nastri di cassette etc. Animazioni di luci proiettate sulle installazioni sembrano liberare l'energia contenuta nei rifiuti elettrici, suscitando in essi memorie del loro passato.

Your Name in Lights gives people the opportunity to experience a glittering 15 seconds of fame by having their names on a giant illuminated sign.Each registered name will be illuminated for 15 seconds on the 30-meter long L.E.D. sign that will be on view twenty-four hours a day during the exhibition period. People can register online at www.yournameinlights.nl and will be informed in advance of when their names will appear. Your Name in Lights playfully and provocatively reflects the fixation with celebrity in contemporary culture and recalls Andy Warhol's oft-quoted statement from 1968, "In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes".Nothing has been more true than this quote!

Lavorereste mai in un ufficio così colorato? E' la sfida propositiva di due designer svedesi della ditta ELECTRIC DREAMS, la cui principale ispirazione per il progetto é stata l'idea che la sede centrale di un'azienda é molto simile ad  un piccolo villaggio!

Philips Case Study : C Luce. A leading italian company for outdoor and architectural lighting

Philips has written a case study about C Luce renewed  lighting of their headquarter. 

C Luce installed the Evolution SM projectors with the latest symmetrical optical systems.The same projectors with two optical systems in each luminaire, and MASTERColour CDM-T Elite MW 70W lamps were also used. These projectors were fitted with Philips MASTERColour CDM-T Elite 315W lamps. To accentuate the main entrance, four Reverse MC projectors with MASTERColour CDM-T Elite MW 35W lamps were installed.The same projectors with two optical systems in each luminaire and MasterColour CDM-T Elite MW 70W lamps were also used to illuminate the four vertical areas of the facade. Both projectors are top-of-the-line models in C Luce’s high-tech lighting portfolio and, thanks to their elegant shape, are ideal for illuminating high-impact areas. The lovely white light completes and enhances the whole impression and lends the entire building a handsome appearance.

Philips ha dedicato un articolo ( case study) a C Luce in occasione del rinnovato impianto di illuminazione della sede principale. La nuova illuminazione è stata realizzata in parte con proiettori asimmetrici EVOLUTION e in parte con i nuovi proiettori architetturali della famiglia REVERSE sia nella versione mono che nella versione bi-lampada. Come fonti luminose sono state utilizzate le nuovissime lampade Philips a ioduri metallici Mid Wattage da 315 Watt e MasterColor da 70 e 35 Watt a testimonianza del lungo e stabile rapporto in essere tra le due aziende e che ha portato C Luce a scegliere Philips come partner per questo progetto.
