Edison shape !

Ho trovato questa bella immagine ! La forma a bulbo, meglio conosciuta come Edison, riscuote sempre il suo fascino ! È stata pensata e rielaborata in tantissime varianti. Con la sua estrema semplicità, arreda, riempie e illumina bene l'ambiente. In questa versione tutta in metallo traforato, mi piace molto : attuale, decorativa, d'effetto.

I found this great image ! The bulb shape, the well known Edison, is always attractive ! It has been produced and renewed in many different ways. It's very simple but it can help decorate and enlighten, giving the room a warm and cosy atmosphere. I like this total metal version : stilish, decorative, of good impact.

GHILLI chandeliers at Rifugio Delicatessen, Milano

Prima che iniziasse Expo 2015, mi sono domandata più volte come realizzare un connubio tra cibo e luce e se questo avesse un senso. Tra le varie mostre sul cibo in questi mesi a Milano, una delle più belle, a mio avviso, è Lumièra, organizzata da Ghilli Antichità in collaborazione con il Rifugio Delicatessen. Una sfida, diciamo così, parlando con l'Arch. Isabella Giovanella, titolare insieme al marito, l'Arch.Paolo Giovanella e la cognata Sabrina, di Ghilli Antichità. All'inizio del progetto, aleggiava un leggero scetticismo : se i bei lampadari in cristallo d'epoca, si sarebbero ben inseriti in un ambiente rustico come quello del Rifugio Delicatessen. Invece i risultati sono stati straordinari : una luce calda ma allo stesso tempo brillante. Sono stati scelti lampadari non troppo "importanti" poiché il soffitto è basso, illuminati con lampadine da 3 w ciascuna, proprio per evitare l'effetto "showroom". L'inaugurazione della mostra Lumièra è stata davvero bella ! Molta gente, ottimi spuntini a base di pane di segale, speck, formaggi, risotto alla mela e speck con ottimi vini ed aperitivi. Ecco che allora un connubio è possibile : la ristorazione di un ottimo livello,illuminata da lampadari senza tempo.  Lumièra sarà aperta fino al 3 novembre 2015- Tutti i giorni dalle ore 12.00 alle ore 23.00. Una selezione di lumiere d'epoca sarà inoltre visionabile presso Ghilli Antichità dalle 9 alle 12.30 e dalle 15.00 alle 19.00, in via Ampère, 55, Milano.

Un'ottima ragione per fare un salto al rifugio sotto una luce d'altri tempi !

Before Expo 2015, I wondered several times the way to combine food with light and if this could make sense. Among the various recent exhibitions about food  in Milan, one of the best, in my opinion, is Lumièra, organized by Ghilli Antichità in co-operation with Rifugio Delicatessen. A challenge, talking with Arch. Isabella Giovanella, owner with her husband, Arch.Paolo Giovanella and her sister in law Sabrina,of Ghilli Antichità. At the beginning of the project, they were slightly skeptic: will  the beautiful vintage crystal chandeliers fit in a rustic set like the one of Rifugio Delicatessen ? However, the results have been extraordinary: a warm light but at the same time brilliant. They chose small chandeliers because the ceiling is low, illuminated with  3 w bulbs each,to avoid the "showroom effect". The launch of Lumièra was really great! Crowded, delicious snacks made with rye bread, ham, cheese, risotto with apple and bacon,fine wines and aperitifs. A combination is then possible: high quality food enlightened by timeless chandeliers. 

Lumièra will be open until 3rd November, everyday from 12 pm to 11 pm.  A selection of chandeliers will be available at Ghilli Antichità, from monday to saturday, from 9 am to 12.30 pm/ 3 pm to 7 pm, via Ampère 55, Milano.

A good reason to head to Rifugio under the light of the past!

220 pixel-tiles that comprise the installation, modified in color, wall placement and lighting speed, with the human touch serving as an inter-connective conduit between each tile. 

An idea which keeps a living connection between the humans and technology.

220 mattonelle che compongono l'installazione, modificate nel colore, il posizionamento a parete e la velocità di illuminazione. Il tocco umano serve come un  condotto inter-connettivo tra i pannelli.

Un'idea che tiene viva la connessione tra l'essere umano e la tecnologia.

Lampada o Porcospino ?

Is it a lamp or a porcupine ? Designed by Daisuke Hiraiwa, each one is created by gluing hundreds of toothpicks together. 

To create his stunning toothpick pendant lamps, Daisuke arranges hundreds of toothpicks together and he paints over the ends with a flexible Japanese glue.

Although they’re not technically recycled toothpicks and the use of glue isn’t at all eco friendly, we were struck by the Stamen chandeliers’ innovative use of everyday material. Just be sure to hang them away from eye level!

ognuna é stata creata mettendo insieme centinaia di stuzzicadenti e poi incollati. Anche se non sono stuzzicadenti riciclati  ( per fortuna..) e l'uso della colla non é proprio eco sostenibile, ci colpisce l'utilizzo originale di articoli di uso quotidiano. Basta assicurarsi che stiano lontano dagli occhi !

The year of the YONG

Wei- Chih Chu's prototype COCOON

A couple of days ago I received the prototype's pic of a floor lamp, designed by my friend Wei-Chih Chu, a young student , whom I have already spoken about in a previous post and whose creativity is amazing and goes beyond the expectations! Meanwhile I was receiving the ad of SFORZIN ILLUMINAZIONE latest lighting fixture...if you look and compare them, don't you find any resemblance? Both don't know each other..so..if we want to find a hidden meaning on this common shape, we could certainly say that both want to represent a NEW BORN, new expectations, new hopes, new concepts! An ERA change.!

Actually Wei-Chih Chu called his creation YONG, whose meaning is Cocoon, breeding the new life. And a new life means light or brightness.

The prototype has been made of silicone and the SFORZIN ILLUMINAZIONE lamp is made of  WHITE OPAL GLASS.

SFORZIN ILLUMINAZIONE

Qualche giorno fa ho ricevuto la foto di un prototipo di lampada da terra, disegnata dal mio amico Wei- Chih Chu, un giovane studente del quale ho già parlato in un post precedente, dalla creatività soprendente e che va oltre le aspettative.Nel frattempo ricevevo la pubblicità di una nuova lampada di SFORZIN ILLUMINAZIONE...se le guardate e le paragonate..non ci vedete delle somiglianze? Entrambi non si conoscono..se vogliamo dare un significato a questa forma comune, potremmo certo dire che entrambi hanno cercato di dare l'idea del NUOVO NATO, di nuove aspettative, nuove speranze, nuovi concetti! Un cambiamento di era! 

E infatti Wei- Chiu Chu ha chiamato la sua opera YONG, il cui significato é BOZZOLO, che genera nuova vita. Nuova vita vuol dire luce o luminosità. Il prototipo é stato fatto in silicone, la lampada di SFORZIN ILLUMINAZIONE in vetro opaco bianco.

My dear friend in New York took these shots just for me from a shop window : these are lighting fixtures out of the creativity of Lindsey Adelman, a talented New York designer, able to mix and match traditional mouth-blown glass bubble together with the latest LED technology. Visiting her web site and blog, I could realize that she will present her collection at VENTURALAMBRATE, which has become an important meeting point for worldwide extremely selected young designers during the SALONE INTERNAZIONALE DEL MOBILE in Milano from 12 to 17th April. Amazing,isn't it ?!

Il mio carissimo amico di New York ha scattato per me queste istantanee dalla vetrina di un negozio : sono lampade scaturite dalla creatività di Lindsey Adelman, una geniale design newyorkese, capace di fondere sfere di vetro soffiato a mano con la nuova tecnologia LED. Visitando il suo sito e blog, sono venuta a conoscenza che presenterà la sua collezione a VENTURALAMBRATE, un importante punto di ritrovo di selezionatissimi esordienti designer a livello mondiale durante il SALONE INTERNAZIONALE DEL MOBILE di Milano dal 12 al 17 aprile. OLED : INNOVATIVE MATERIAL

Today I'll present among the best products that keep the environment in mind.

The first of its kind to use organic LEDs ( OLEDs), Ingo Maurer Early Future lamp is a limited edition that uses Osram prototypes of the innovative material. Unlike the more familiar LEDs, OLEDs are actually a printed film which means the light comes from everywhere on the film simultaneously making for a light source that is not only more pliable but also lightweight, transparent and two-dimensional.

Oggi presento uno tra i migliori prodotti eco-compatibili. Il primo nel suo genere a utilizzare il LED cosiddetto biologico ( OLEDs) é Ingo Maurer con la sua lampada Early Future a edizione limitata che utilizza i prototipi del materiale innovativo di Osram . Al contrario dei più familiari LEDs, gli OLEDs sono in effetti una pellicola stampata, cioè la luce si rifrange sulla pellicola provenendo da tutte le parti simultaneamente, producendo una fonte luminosa che non é più solo duttile ma anche leggera, trasparente e bi-dimensionale.
