Collecchio's city park "Fortunato Nevicati",Italy, with QL induction systems!

Parco Fortunato Nevicati, Collecchio

-          Nessun effetto accecamento.
-          Funzionali immediatamente dopo l’accensione.

After Oriolo Romano retrofit project of some residential streets (http://onlighting.blogspot.it/2013/06/oriolo-romano-caseitaly-how-to-save.html), now ready Collecchio's beautiful city park!

Collecchio is a municipality in the province of Parma, Italy.  The existing historical luminaires, in the beautiful city park ‘Fortunato Nevicati’, have been installed around 1998 and are in reasonably good condition.

In the new situation the luminaires in the park have been retrofit from 125W mercury vapor to QL 55W. The assembly or retrofit can be done very easily within the technical department or by the installer and takes approximately 15 minutes of work.

Exchanging the historical luminaires from 125W mercury vapor to QL 55W is successful. Collecchio and the installer are very satisfied with the pleasant light of QL 55W induction lighting.
Below a summary of the advantages of QL induction in comparison with mercury vapor.

-          Energy reduction >60% based on Mercury vapor 125W
-          Reduce 60% on maintenance costs
-          Low initial investment, short return of investment <3 span="" years="">
-          High color recognition, creates a pleasant environment for visitors, who feel safer.
-          No glare
-          Instant on, hot-restrike
-          CO₂ reduction by re-use of the luminaire and extended lifetime of the lighting system.

Vitamin A vs LED's effects

What's in common between Vitamin A and LED ? This is what I read in a spanish website :
"The professor of the University College of Optics at the Complutense says LED lights are made up of rainbow longitude waves, and it is the blue part which causes the problem.
“LED is fantastic if there is adequate protection,” she explains. She also says using good sunglasses with UV filter rays, and a healthy and varied diet rich in Vitamin A – which comes from spinach and peppers – will protect the eyes.
The Prince of Asturias Scientific Investigation Prize winner in 2009 says Vitamin A has a high concentration of visual pigments, known as 'maculars', which are responsible for absorbing the harmful elements of light such as short-wave blue and violet rays.
A human being's ability to store these pigments reduces with age." OK, so the problem remains and the discussion will go on over and over again.. !
