Oriolo Romano : luminaire with 250W Mercury vapor before retrofit

Current situation

In the municipality of Oriolo Romano (Italy) the existing luminaires are Fivep Nova11 .
The luminaires are installed in 1999 and are in good condition. The light sources that
are used are 250W Mercury vapor powered by an electronic ballast. On average the
total power consumption per luminaire is 266W. All the light bulbs are exchanged after
approximately 20.000 hours every five years.

 Retrofit with QL
To create a durable retrofit easy and fast the original parts of the luminaire are used.
The pictures of the open luminaires show the difference between the old non dimmable
ballast and QL dimmable electronic gear. In the picture where you can see the lamp (photo
below right) a tailored QL heatsink (silver) is added to dissipate the heat from the power
coupler and to position the lamp in the existing reflector.

 New situation
In the new situation the luminaires in the following streets, Via XXV Aprile, Via Europa,
Via della Repubblica in Oriolo Romano, are retrofitted from 250W Mercury vapor to QL
85W. The assembly or retrofit can be done very easily within the technical department or
by the installer. Below you can find the advantages of QL 85W systems compared to
250W Mercury vapor.

Situazione attuale

Nel Comune di Oriolo Romano (Italia) sono installati dei lampioni Fivep Nova11. I lampioni sono stati installati nel 1999 e sono in buone condizioni. Le lampade utilizzate sono ai vapori di mercurio, da 250 W, alimentate da un ballast elettronico. In media il consumo complessivo di energia per lampione è di 266 W. Tutte le lampade vengono sostituite dopo circa 20.000 ore, ogni cinque anni. 

Retrofit con QL

Per pianificare un retrofit veloce, semplice e duraturo vengono sfruttati al massimo i componenti originali dei lampioni. Le immagini dei lampioni aperti mostrano la differenza tra i vecchi ballast non dimmerabili e l'elettronica QL dimmerabile. Nell'immagine che mostra il lampione chiuso (foto in basso a destra) è stato aggiunto un dissipatore QL su misura (argento), per dissipare il calore dell'accoppiatore di energia e posizionare la lampada nel riflettore esistente. 

Nuova situazione

Nella nuova situazione, per i lampioni di Via XXV Aprile, Via Europa e Via della Repubblica a Oriolo Romano è stato effettuato il retrofit da lampade ai vapori di mercurio da 250 W a QL 85 W. L'assemblaggio o il retrofit possono essere facilmente effettuati dal dipartimento tecnico o dall'installatore. Di seguito sono indicati i vantaggi offerti dai sistemi QL 85 W rispetto alle lampade ai vapori di mercurio da 250 W.

• ·         Riduzione dei consumi energetici > 65%, rispetto alle lampade ai vapori di mercurio da 250 W

• ·         Elevata resa cromatica, ambiente piacevole per i cittadini, che si sentono più al sicuro.

• ·         Non richiede praticamente manutenzione

• ·         Ridotto investimento iniziale, rapido ritorno dell'investimento (< 2 anni)

I have always admired Japan and Japanese culture : maybe due to its diversity compared to our european one. I don't know much about it, but I find it extremely charming. I am now in a sort of Japanese mood more than ever : that is why I was attracted by this lamp : "Shio", which means salt in Japanese language.

The artist strives to mimic the forces of nature in a way that's efficient and original, especially where high-pressure mineral formations are concerned. The resulting sculptures are flawless, characteristics magnified by the colored LED lights that illuminate them from the inside out.

Ho sempre ammirato il Giappone e la cultura giapponese, forse perché così diversa dalla nostra europea. Non la conosco moltissimo tuttavia, ma la trovo estremamente intrigante. In questo momento ho una maggiore sensibilità per l'arte e i costumi giapponesi ed è per questa ragione che sono stata attratta da questa lampada. Si chiama "Shio" che in lingua giapponese significa sale. L'artista cerca di imitare la natura in un modo del tutto originale, prendendo spunto dalle formazioni stalagmitiche. Il risultato è sorprendente e le caratteristiche peculiari della lampada sono enfatizzate da LED colorati che la illuminano dall'interno.

QL CLEARSKY

QL Clearsky is the answer to the worldwide increasing light pollution. Initially Clearsky was developed by Philips in 2008. QL Company redeveloped the product which has resulted in an extended reliable lifetime of 100,000 hours like all other QL Series. 

The offshore industry experienced that their lights at sea cause many problems for migrating birds. QL Clearsky with reduced “red” light attracts less migratory birds to the platform and prevents them of getting disoriented so that they reach their destination more easily.

Current customers state that the “green” light improves contrast, appears brighter and less blinding than other light sources. People have two types of light detectors in the eye, the cones and rods. Cones dominate during daylight conditions. The rods, sensitive to blue and green, dominate at night and at low light levels. Clearsky is considered to be comfortable and safe to work in.

The QL Clearsky is perfect for industrial and low traffic applications in rural area’s where light pollution is an issue. The lamps are available in 55W, 85W and 165W.

QL Clearsky è la risposta al crescente inquinamento luminoso a livello planetario.Nel 2008 Philips fu la prima a presentare questo prodotto .QL ha ripreso poi in mano il progetto e lo ha esteso ad una durata di 100.000 ore come tutti gli altri della serie QL. L'industria offshore ha sperimentato che le loro installazioni luminose causano molti problemi agli uccelli migratori. QL Clearsky avendo una ridotta luce "rossa" attrae meno gli uccelli migratori verso le piattaforme e impedisce loro di essere disorientati in modo che raggiungano la loro destinazione più facilmente. Gli attuali clienti affermano che la luce "verde" migliora il contrasto, appare più luminosa e meno accecante rispetto ad altre fonti di luce. Questo perché le persone hanno due tipi di rivelatori di luce negli occhi : i coni e bastoncelli.  I coni dominano in condizioni di luce diurna.I bastoncelli , sensibili al blu e al verde, dominano la notte e con bassi livelli di luce. Clearsky è considerata sicura e confortevole durante le ore di lavoro. QL Clearsky è perfetta per le applicazioni industriali e in zone poco trafficate. Le lampade sono disponibili in 55W, 85W e 165W.
